What is self-care? Self- care means that you are taking care of yourself emotionally, mentally and physically. Why is it important? It is important for you to be able to perform at your optimal potential.

Camping can take a toll on your body. It can be physically draining. The elements can be damaging to your skin and immune systems. Your sleep can also be compromised.

It is ultra important to start and maintain a regular self-care routine including quality beauty products that will help you maintain your skin and health.

Must Have Beauty Products For Camping

Below are some of the best beauty products on the market that will help combat some of the negative effects that camping can wreak on your face, hands/ feet, skin, and hair.

FACE

Thayers Witch Hazel Facial Toner

  • Thayers witch hazel facial toner cleanses the skin with witch hazel and rose water. It tones and moisturizes. The best part is that it contains no alcohol. It smells great and works for keeping your skin clean at the beginning or end of a busy day of camping.

Mud Mask

  • Majestic Pure Facial Mud Mask is infused with tea tree oil to help with any facial blemishes. It is a wash-off mask with fantastic and safe ingredients. This mask will leave your face feeling fresh, clean and ready to head out into the wild.

Loccitane Imortelle Divine Face Cream

  • This product is a little on the pricier side of the scale. It is definitely worth it. This cream not only smells fantastic, it also nourishes the skin while reducing the signs of aging. This little jar lasts a very long time. To use gently apply to your face at night after your normal cleansing routine. This will reverse the harsh damage caused by the natural elements while camping.

NAILS

Colorstreet Nails

  • Colorstreet nails are awesome!! The strips are made of real nail polish. They stay on for up to two weeks. They don’t chip, which is great for outdoorsy gals. The best part is that you look like you stepped out of the salon without the price or time commitment. There are so many color combinations to try and they are super easy to apply.

SKIN

Elemis Body Oil

  • This body oil by Elemis smells of frangipani and manoi. This body oil is the best scented oil I have ever found. Just a few drops heals and moisturizes tired and dull skin.

Sunscreen

  • Sun Bum Sunscreen is reef safe and plant based. A good sunscreen will keep your skin safe while you enjoy the outdoors. Don’t forget to take care of one of your most important attributes.

Body Wash Wipes

HAIR

Dry Shampoo

Sitting by the campfire is a necessity when it comes to camping trips. Don’t ruin your hair and waste valuable time washing your hair everyday to get the smoke smell out. Use a dry shampoo like this one from Batiste. It works great, it saves your hairs natural oils and leaves it smelling great (even after a campfire).

Conclusion

Go out there, plan your next camping adventure. Go hiking in the woods. Play on the beach and make s’mores by the campfire. Just remember that while you are feeding your travel bug and social needs, the elements can be rough on your body. You are no good to anyone else unless you are taking excellent care of yourself.

Enjoy your next camping trip. Don’t leave home without your self-care routine and camper beauty products. Your skin, body, mind, and overall health will thank you for it!

SHOWING GRATITUDE IN 2021: 10 Acts Of Kindness

Introduction

Looking for a list of Acts of Kindness to make 2021 better? I think that we can all agree that 2020 was a rough year. Covid hit, we learned a new way to live, social distancing became a term that will forever leave an indelible mark on our vocabulary. Mothers have learned how to teach from home, while balancing work and a myriad of other tasks. Families have had to learn to gather over zoom. Travel plans were cancelled. Many have lost loved ones. There have been fires, storms, and other natural disasters. Let’s just say that our humanity has been tested to new lengths. With a new year approaching, it is a wonderful time to reconnect with our sense of kindness and humility. One way to do this is to set aside our petty grievances and try to relate to other humans on a basic level. Share a smile. Today is always a good day to reach others and give good feelings. This article will share different ways to spread joy with small random acts of kindness that each person can do to achieve and spread joy in our communities. I hope that it helps.

10 Random Acts of Kindness

  1. Number one is a very simple task. Open a door for a stranger. If you see someone struggling with grocery bags or maybe a mother is pushing a stroller, hold the door open. This one doesn’t cost any money and it helps a lot.  I think that sometimes we are so busy in our own worlds, or maybe we are paying attention to our devices and we don’t notice that other people are struggling around us. It is very easy to look around and lend a hand. Also, if someone is kind enough to do this for you, pay it forward.
  2. I mentioned briefly above how many mothers are working from home, teaching, cooking dinner, cleaning, raising kids, and many other important things. They are truly super heroes. If you have a friend that is feeling a bit burnt out, listen to them. Ask how they are doing. Listening and reaching out, just being a friend through rough times can be a great help. If you want to go the extra mile, make a dinner and give mom a night off from cooking. I am sure she will be very appreciative.
  3. One of my favorite random acts of kindness has always been to buy a stranger a coffee in the Starbucks line. I have had one purchased for me before and it always makes my day. What a treat it is to arrive at the cash register and find out that someone has paid for your coffee. It is a guaranteed smile. Starbucks gift cards make a great treat as well and can be purchased at amazon if you follow this link. https://amzn.to/3hooGzy.
  4. Have you ever been at a grocery store in the middle of a rain storm and dread having to take the cart back all the way to the store? I bet someone else feels that way as well. Offer to take someone else’s cart for them. This will surely brighten someone’s rainy day and make you feel good in the process  as well. And on the bright side, you won’t get any more wet than you were already going to. Bonus smile for positive thinking.
  5. I know that it has been a very long time (or at least it feels like it) since we have been to a concert. Do you remember how everyone rushes to go to the bathroom between sets? The women’s restroom, in particular, has a very long line. Maybe there are other places that have long lines nowadays. I think that bank line has been one of those places in the past couple of months. If you see someone that seems to be in a bigger hurry than you, let them cut in line. This one is a bit of a tricky one. The ultimate goal of a random act of kindness is to spread joy. If it makes everyone else in line upset, this one may defeat the purpose. Gauge the crowd and proceed with caution. Ha ha.
  6. I have read this one in the past and I like it, but, I am going to add to it. You have heard about leaving quarters at a laundry mat right? What about leaving individual detergent packs? I love the idea of helping out someone who needs it. Amazon has these great little packs of laundry detergent. You can find them at this link. https://amzn.to/2MelHOK
  7. I am the first one to admit that I get frustrated with other people when I drive. I lived in Japan for a spell when my husband was stationed there with the Navy. Do you know that they don’t honk their horns there? It was beautiful. It took me so long to get used to horns honking when I moved back to the states. One thing that I missed as well is how polite the drivers were there. They actually let people into their lanes when their blinkers were on. What a concept. Wow!! Well let me tell you. I was a lot less angry when I drove. So, my thought is maybe it won’t spread joy but, it will create less anger on the road therefore creating space for joy by letting someone into your lane when you are driving. So let’s try it folks!! Let someone into your lane today.
  8. Here is a big one!! I touched on this a bit above. When you are with someone, try putting your phone down and giving them your attention for the time you are together. This is truly kind. You never know what that connection might mean to that person. With the scarcity of connection over the past year, it has never been more important to make genuine time for each other.
  9. Take in your neighbors trash cans if you see them out. It could bring about a sense of community in your neighborhood. It helps them out and lets them know you are looking out for them. If they are elderly, it helps them out a lot so they are not unduly exerting themselves. It shows that you know how to be a good neighbor.
  10. Call your mom. She needs to hear from you. She wants to know that you are ok. You don’t know how long you will have her around. Trust me, you will miss her voice when she is gone.
